Audubon Real Estate
Interspersed with the large Victorian homes rich with wrought iron grating and fences barely holding in lush colorful gardens are Audubon Zoo and Audubon Park, two magnificent facets of the jewel of New Orleans. Audubon Park is filled with live oaks, cypress, and magnolia trees and a path for walking and jogging forms a circumference around the green in the middle of the park. Residents and visitors enjoy using the green for birthday parties, sunbathing and studying. Many students use the park, since it is close to Tulane and Loyola Universities, both on St. Charles Avenue.
Living in Audubon
The Audubon Zoo is world famous. Exhibits showcase wildlife and landscapes unique to Louisiana wildlife. The two most beautiful times of year in Audubon are Christmas and Mardi Gras. During December Audubon Park is lit with lights, as are many of the homes and apartment buildings and condominiums along St. Charles Ave. During Mardi Gras, St. Charles is one of the main uptown parade routes, and one may stand and watch as float after float goes by. The effect is magnificent, particularly of the nighttime parades, the floats brightly lit with multicolors. Board walk and swamp exhibits showcase animals distinctive to Louisiana marshland. St. Charles Avenue, along with gorgeous homes and landmarks, offers many gourmet eateries and bars. Superior Grill sits on the corner of St. Charles Ave. and Amelia St. Along with a great menu, the restaurant offers locals the chance to socialize at daily happy hours that are standing room only.
